Urmila Matondkar’s Instagram Account Hacked After Responding To DM, Actor Files Complaint

Actor-turned-politician Urmila Matondkar found herself victim of cyber crime as her Instagram account was hacked by unknown elements. Taking to Twitter, the actress said that her Instagram account was hacked following which she has filed an FIR with Maharashtra Cyber, which is the cyber wing of Maharashtra Police.

Matondkar said that her account was compromised after she responded to a Direct Message on the application which asked her to follow a few steps in order to get her account verified.

“My Instagram account has been hacked @instagram. First they DM you and ask to follow a few steps and verify the account and then it gets hacked. Really!? #NotDone,” she said in her tweet.

In the following tweet, she shared an image with Mumbai Police DCP cyber crime and said that women must not take cyber crimes lightly. “Cyber crimes” is not something that women should take lightly..as I went to file FIR on my @instagram ac hacking met this dynamic DCP #cybercrime @MumbaiPolice  Smt. Rashmi Karandikar who enlightened me lot more on the issue. Will surely be working on it in future,” she tweeted.

Posts from her Instagram account were wiped out, with the display name changed to “Instagram Support”.

“This is an automated message sent to you. If you have infringed copyright, you will receive an automated message,” the message read on her profile.

Urmila Matondkar who contested the Lok Sabha election from Congress’ ticket, has recently joined Shiv Sena.
